A 13-year-old boy, Junior Moran, was reportedly rammed off his e-bike by an unmarked police car in Little Hulton, Salford, on January 13th. CCTV footage shows the Greater Manchester Police vehicle driving at him, causing him to fall off and tumble onto the pavement.
Junior's mother described her son as traumatised, suffering from concussion and feeling dizzy after the incident. She stated that her son did not recognize the plainclothes officers and, in a state of panic, attempted to ride away. He was later released by officers after they determined he had done nothing wrong.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed that the e-bike was illegal and seized. They stated officers made 'tactical contact' as part of an effort to detain the teenager. The force's Professional Standards Directorate is reviewing the incident, and the driving officer's authority has been suspended pending investigation. A superintendent later visited the family and issued an apology.
