23 Jan
Summary
- Officer Jake Janes sacked for failing to report three vehicle accidents.
- Incidents included hitting a kerb, crashing into a drainpipe, and reversing into a gate.
- Gross misconduct was found after Janes delayed reporting the events.

A police officer, PC Jake Janes, was dismissed following a gross misconduct hearing concerning his failure to report vehicle accidents. Between November 2024 and January 2025, Janes was involved in three separate incidents while driving police vehicles.
One incident on November 19, 2024, involved hitting a kerb with sufficient force to burst a tyre, which Janes initially reported as a 'blow-out'. He waited five days to report the actual event. On January 17, 2025, he reportedly collided with a metal drainpipe outside High Wycombe police station, though driver status was unconfirmed.
A subsequent incident on January 23, 2025, saw Janes reverse into the gate at High Wycombe police station. CCTV footage and passenger testimony confirmed this event, which was not his first time hitting the gate. He failed to report this accident until prompted by a sergeant 11 days later, leading to his dismissal.
