Suspended Police Officer Charged with Sexual Communication with Child

In a concerning development, a police community support officer named Keith Sayers has been charged with a range of offenses, including one count of sexual communication with a child under 16. The 42-year-old officer is also accused of one count of misconduct in public office and three counts of unauthorized access of police systems.
Sayers appeared in court on Friday, November 10, 2025, at St Albans Magistrates' Court, where he was released on bail. He is scheduled to appear again at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on November 28, 2025.
Following his arrest in January 2024, Sayers was suspended from his job. Ch Supt Di Whiteside of Hertfordshire Police stated that the force takes allegations of this nature "extremely seriously" and has referred the case to the Independent Office for Police Conduct for investigation.
The alleged offenses are said to have occurred between September 1, 2021, and January 9, 2024. Ch Supt Whiteside acknowledged that this case will cause concern among the local communities and residents, as well as the wider public. The police have assured that they will always prioritize protecting and safeguarding victims of crime and preventing any further risk to the public.
