Viral Videos Show Police Attacking Woman, Youth at Shrine

During the recent Rangbhari Ekadashi celebration at Kashi Vishwanath Dham, serious allegations of police misconduct surfaced. A female journalist, credentialed for media coverage, was reportedly assaulted by an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) and several officers near Gate No. 4. She alleged inappropriate touching and physical assault while attempting to enter the designated media area.
Witnesses claim a youth who intervened to protect the journalist was also subjected to violence by the accompanying police. Furthermore, viral videos appeared to show other policemen thrashing a young Vedic student within the shrine's barricaded areas. These incidents occurred amidst large crowds gathered for the festival.
Following the widespread circulation of video evidence, senior officials intervened. The DCP (Kashi zone) announced that the ACP and all police personnel implicated in both incidents have been reassigned to police lines. A formal investigation has been ordered, and strict directives have been issued to all officers managing crowd control to ensure courteous public interaction.
