According to a police report, the 30-year-old rapper was with his girlfriend and security guard in a limousine being driven by Carl Reynolds. An argument broke out between Carti and his girlfriend, and the driver claims Carti threatened both him and the woman with violence. When the driver stopped the vehicle to try to de-escalate the situation, Carti's girlfriend became upset, and the rapper allegedly hit her.
The driver then says Carti struck him on the left side of his face while he was not looking. Deputies observed redness and a mark on the driver's jaw consistent with being hit. Carti allegedly admitted to punching the driver for stopping in an inconvenient location.

Carti was issued a citation for assault following the incident on October 2. He was later charged with misdemeanor assault in Wasatch County on October 9. The rapper has faced several charges and arrests in recent years, including an alleged assault on his then-pregnant girlfriend in late 2022.
