State police in Greensburg have identified relationship issues as the motive behind a shooting that occurred on Tuesday outside a Planet Fitness in East Huntington Township. Steven Heald faces attempted homicide and aggravated assault charges after allegedly confronting and shooting a man he believed was dating his estranged wife.
The confrontation escalated rapidly, resulting in three shots fired that struck the victim. Video surveillance captured the violent exchange. Following the incident, Heald fled in his vehicle towards Connellsville, where he eventually turned himself in to authorities. Heroic bystanders immediately rendered aid to the wounded victim, actions that were critical in preserving his life until emergency medical services arrived.
