Pizza Roma Fined £13,000 for Cockroach Infestation
19 Jan
Summary
- A severe cockroach infestation was discovered at Pizza Roma.
- Officers found cockroaches in the ice cream machine and sink.
- The business reopened after a week-long voluntary closure.

A pizza establishment in Stockport, Pizza Roma, has been ordered to pay more than £13,000 in fines. This action follows an inspection in January 2025 by environmental health officers who identified a significant cockroach infestation and generally unhygienic conditions.
The Castle Street premises exhibited a lack of cleanliness, with food improperly stored and evidence of cockroaches at various life stages found across the shop, including the sink and floors, and alarmingly, within the ice cream machine.
Following a week of voluntary closure, Pizza Roma resumed operations on February 7, 2025. The business later faced charges for 11 distinct food hygiene violations in November.
