11 Mar
Summary
- Sheriff Nanos' resume contained two clerical errors regarding his employment dates.
- Past allegations include insubordination and inefficiency in a previous role.
- The department stated the errors were administrative and not intended to mislead.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos' publicly available resume has been updated following the discovery of two clerical errors concerning his work history. Public records cited in a local report indicate Nanos resigned in lieu of termination from the El Paso Police Department in Texas in 1982. His resume had incorrectly stated he remained with the department until 1984.
The Pima County Sheriff's Department acknowledged the date discrepancies, characterizing them as administrative errors without intent to mislead. For clarity, the department confirmed Sheriff Nanos served with the El Paso Police Department from 1976 to 1982, with his service concluding in 1982. Additionally, his promotion to captain occurred in 2007, not 2009.
Reports from his time in El Paso detailed allegations of insubordination and inefficiency. During his six years there, Nanos reportedly faced 37 days of suspension for issues including excessive force, off-duty gambling, and tardiness. One notable incident involved a 15-day suspension for allegedly sending a suspected robber to intensive care.
