This tragic event took place last year, on the evening of August 21, 2025, at a Shell gas station located in the 9400 block of Washington Boulevard in Pico Rivera. Deputies reported that Sweet, aged 36, was involved in a verbal dispute with a pedestrian near the gas station.
Following the argument, Sweet drove into the gas station parking lot and approached the pedestrian. During the encounter, the suspect fired multiple shots, fatally wounding Sweet, who later succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital. The gunman fled the scene on foot and remains at large.
