Haneef Palmer, 33, also known as "Lew," received a sentence of 121 months in federal prison earlier this month for his involvement in a significant cargo-theft operation. This operation, which spanned seven months in 2023, saw Palmer and his associates target tractor-trailers across Philadelphia.
During this period, the crew successfully stole a variety of items, including frozen crab legs, televisions, and commercial refrigerators. A particularly notable theft occurred on April 13, 2023, when they broke into a trailer carrying approximately $750,000 in dimes from the U.S. Mint, making off with about $230,000 worth of the coins.
Palmer's criminal activities also included participating in the robbery of a trailer carrying commercial refrigerators just twelve days prior to the dime theft, during which the driver was attacked and injured. Palmer ultimately pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including conspiracy, Hobbs Act robbery, and various theft charges related to interstate shipments.
Palmer's sentencing has also brought renewed attention to his past association with rapper Meek Mill. The two grew up together in Philadelphia and were connected through the local music and street scenes, though they have been estranged for over a decade.
