Summary

Kasara Almasian, 74, was the victim of a violent assault in Cardiff when he was shot twice in the head with metal pellets from an air rifle. The incident occurred around 2 PM as he walked to a bus stop on Priest Road. Mr. Almasian heard a loud bang and felt an impact, later discovering he was bleeding. A second shot struck him shortly after. Doctors later removed two pellets from his skull in an operation.
The traumatic experience has had a profound impact on Mr. Almasian's mental health, leading to anxiety, depression, and panic attacks for which he is still receiving medication. South Wales Police carried out a thorough investigation, including reviewing CCTV footage and conducting house-to-house inquiries, but were unable to identify a suspect. The case will be reviewed if new information emerges.
Mr. Almasian, who moved to Wales in 1975, stated this was his first experience with violence. The shooting has altered his behavior, causing him to avoid the street where the incident occurred. The decline in air weapon injuries in England and Wales over recent years makes this event unusual.
