A shocking CCTV recording captured the moment a 74-year-old man, Joe Storer, was brutally assaulted on his own driveway by a masked attacker on March 10.
The elderly victim was checking his bins around 6:30 AM when a man dressed in black, wearing a ski mask, charged at him with a wooden plank embedded with nails. The assailant struck Mr. Storer once in the face before fleeing the scene.
Mr. Storer was taken to the hospital with concerns of a brain bleed, but scans confirmed severe cuts and bruises. He expressed ongoing fear and anxiety following the attack.
Derbyshire Police have arrested a man in his 50s in connection with the incident. Authorities are actively appealing for witnesses who may have been in the Bryant Lane area of South Normanton around the time of the assault.
Inspector Mat Winterbottom apologized for any lack of communication from the police and assured that investigations are ongoing, including a thorough CCTV trawl. He urged the public to report any information that could help identify the suspect.
