A police officer from Worcestershire received recognition from the Royal Humane Society for his life-saving actions. PC Russell Bunce was commended for his swift response to a serious car crash near Kidderminster in March of last year. He discovered a motorist who had suffered a cardiac arrest.
Upon finding the casualty, PC Bunce immediately initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). He estimated that he and the arriving paramedics performed chest compressions for approximately five to seven minutes. This crucial intervention successfully revived the man.
PC Bunce continued to monitor the patient's condition until paramedics took over full care. He remained at the scene for five additional hours to assist with the forensic investigation. The officer expressed that while the recognition was an honour, the greatest reward was knowing they saved a life, highlighting the effective collaboration with the ambulance service. The man involved has since made a full recovery.
