Patna Police Arrest 4 in Brutal Murder of Property Dealer

On September 10, property dealer and former RJD functionary Raj Kumar Rai, also known as Ala Rai, was shot dead in Patna's Chitragupt Nagar area. According to Patna SSP Kartikeya K Sharma, the murder stemmed from a land dispute.

Rai was returning to his flat when unknown assailants shot him on Munnachak Road. He tried to hide in a nearby restaurant, but the shooters followed him inside and fired repeatedly until he died. The two shooters, Akash Kumar and Aniket Kumar from Patna City's Malsalami area, were later tracked down by the police.

The main conspirator behind the murder was Tarkeshwar Nath Singh, who allegedly paid ₹1 lakh to hire the shooters, with only ₹10,000 given as an advance. Singh and his brother-in-law were involved in a dispute over a 10-kattha plot of land belonging to Singh's late mother-in-law Kamala Devi.

In the police crackdown, the two shooters were forced to flee the state, but they were eventually arrested along with two others - Singh and Ravi Kumar. The weapons used in the crime were also recovered from a construction site in the Ram Krishna Nagar area.
