Pastor Charged with Animal Cruelty After Dog Deaths
28 Feb
Summary
- Pastor Lisa Levy faces five animal cruelty charges.
- Several dogs died from chemical burns and neurological issues.
- Levy's connection to ailing animals dates back over a decade.

A Connecticut minister, Lisa Levy, has been charged with five counts of animal cruelty in Hamden. The charges stem from the deaths of several dogs under her care, with the animals exhibiting severe symptoms including chemical burns, neurological issues, and seizures.
Authorities became aware of a concerning pattern after Levy brought a dog, Chanco, to a veterinary hospital with extensive burns. The dog's partner, Issak Cuenco, stated the bathtub was clear before Chanco was bathed, contradicting Levy's explanation of bleach exposure. Video evidence reportedly showed Chanco in distress.
Investigations uncovered a history of similar animal health incidents linked to Levy dating back to 2011. Over the past three and a half years, Levy reportedly housed 13 animals, with four dying, five euthanized, and at least three missing. Her church, Trinity Episcopal, has placed her on administrative leave as the case progresses.
Levy was released on a $15,000 bond and is scheduled for arraignment on March 6, 2026. The investigation into her connection with multiple ailing animals continues, with allegations spanning over a decade.
