Summary
- Suspect in university firing arrested after shootout.
- Accused injured and captured with weapon and car.
- Arrest linked to Bambiha group's alleged involvement.

A joint operation by Chandigarh Police, Punjab's Anti-Gangster Task Force, and Fatehgarh Sahib Police led to the arrest of the primary suspect in the Panjab University firing incident. The apprehension occurred in Fatehgarh Sahib after a brief exchange of gunfire, during which the accused sustained injuries and was subsequently hospitalized.
The arrested individual has been identified as Jaspreet Singh, also known as Jass Panaich. During the operation, law enforcement officers recovered a .32 bore pistol, ammunition, and a Creta car. Preliminary investigations suggest that Singh is a key member of the Bambiha group and that the shooting was orchestrated at the group's behest.
The incident for which Singh was apprehended involved an attempt on student leader Jashandeep Singh Jawanda's life near the university's botany department on March 17. The assailants fired two shots, which Jawanda narrowly avoided. The suspects then fled the scene, carjacking a motorcycle at gunpoint before disappearing.
