Arissa Ward, 32, a Pennsylvania mother with a history of child endangerment, has been arrested again. In 2018, Ward received a two-day prison sentence for accidentally suffocating her 2-month-old son. This tragic incident occurred when she fell asleep on a couch while under the influence of alcohol and marijuana, rolling onto the infant. Ward was also ordered to complete house arrest, community service, and probation.
Nearly a decade after her son's death, Ward was arrested on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. The charge stems from an incident where a 2-year-old boy under her care was discovered wandering alone in the middle of a road. The toddler was found barefoot and cold in 37-degree weather, prompting a bystander to contact the police.
Authorities determined that Ward, who was babysitting the child, had fallen asleep. The toddler had managed to leave the residence. When questioned, Ward initially claimed the child was not hers, despite the mother dropping him off earlier that morning. Records indicate the child's mother had to wake Ward multiple times after leaving the child with her, and the front door was left unsecured.
Ward was subsequently arrested and charged with felony child endangerment and misdemeanor reckless endangerment. The child was safely taken into police custody.
