CEO Faces New Fraud Charges Amidst Fatal Case

Tamela Peterson, the CEO of Oxford Center, has been arraigned on nine felony counts of health care fraud and false claims. These new charges follow allegations of fraudulent billing practices at the center's Brighton location, including billing for services not provided to patients. Each felony count carries a potential maximum sentence of four years in prison and a $50,000 fine.
Peterson is also currently facing charges related to the death of a 5-year-old boy in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber explosion at the Oxford Center's Troy, Michigan facility. The Attorney General's office stated that Peterson was aware of and benefited from these fraudulent health care claim practices. Her next court appearance for a probable cause conference is scheduled for January 27, with a preliminary examination set for February 3.
