Orlando police recently arrested a burglary suspect who attempted to escape by hiding on a rooftop. The incident occurred early last Thursday at Annie's Food Mart, where the suspect stole about $3,000 in cigarettes and rolled coins.
Surveillance footage captured the suspect's actions, and the store owner, alerted by her phone, called 9-1-1. Responding officers launched a drone, which utilized its thermal camera to track the suspect onto a nearby roof.
Tyrell Staffine, 48, was eventually ordered to descend and arrested without further incident. Stolen items and burglary tools were recovered. The arrest highlights the utility of the Orlando Police Department's Drone First Responder program.
