- An ER doctor was sentenced to 13 months for a fatal hit-and-run.
- He struck a pedestrian using a crosswalk system and fled.
- The doctor went to work after leaving the victim at the scene.

An Oregon emergency room doctor received a 13-month prison sentence for fleeing the scene of a fatal pedestrian collision. Kenneth Kolarsky, 59, admitted to striking Nicolas Hernandez-Mendoza on December 26, 2024, as the victim crossed a highway in Woodburn.
The victim had activated a pedestrian safety system, but Kolarsky drove around his body after the crash and proceeded to his job. Investigators noted this detail as crucial in their case against him.
Prosecutors argued that leaving the scene showed a callous disregard for life, particularly from a medical professional. Kolarsky was arrested on May 17, 2025, and charged with hit-and-run offenses, as evidence for causing the initial crash was insufficient.
The judge condemned Kolarsky's actions, emphasizing the abandonment of a "community member fallen and in the dark."
