Techie's Suicide Note Accuses Ola Electric of Mental Harassment and Financial Exploitation

On September 28, 2022, a 38-year-old techie employed with Ola Electric died by suicide in Bengaluru, India. In his final 28-page handwritten note, the techie, identified as K Aravind, made serious allegations against several Ola employees, including the company's founder, Bhavesh Aggarwal.

Aravind, who had been working as a homologation engineer at Ola since 2022, accused his seniors of mental harassment and financial exploitation. According to the note, he was denied his salary and allowances, which put him under immense mental and financial strain and eventually led him to take his own life.

Aravind's brother filed a complaint with the police, and a case has been registered based on an Unnatural Death Report. The police have issued notices to the individuals named in the note and are currently investigating the matter further. Ola, on the other hand, has challenged the registration of the FIR in the Karnataka High Court and claims that the deceased engineer never raised any complaints or grievances during his employment.

The tragic incident has once again highlighted the growing concerns around workplace harassment and the need for companies to prioritize the well-being of their employees.
