A tragic turn of events on Christmas Day has resulted in a manslaughter charge for an Oklahoma man. Cody Wayne Adams, 33, is accused of firing a handgun in his backyard, leading to the death of a neighbor, Sandra Phelps. The incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. local time in Comanche.
Phelps was reportedly sitting on her front porch with family and holding a baby when a stray bullet struck her. Initial reports suggest the bullet grazed her arm before entering her chest. Investigators noted the shot would have been at a significant downward angle.
Adams allegedly told investigators he was target practicing with a new handgun he received for Christmas.
