Ohio Man Charged with Attempted Murder of U.S. Marshal

On October 15th, 2025, U.S. Marshals and Cleveland Police were serving an arrest warrant for an Ohio man named Larry Wiley in the area of E. 91st Street and Stewart Avenue. Wiley was wanted for felonious assault.
When the officers announced their presence and breached the door, Wiley allegedly fired a handgun from inside, hitting a U.S. Marshal in the arm. The injured Marshal was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Wiley then barricaded himself in the apartment, leading to an hours-long standoff. He eventually surrendered and was taken into custody.
Last week, on November 9th, 2025, a federal grand jury in Cleveland indicted Wiley on four counts, including attempted murder of a federal officer and assault on federal officers with a deadly weapon. The U.S. Attorney's Office of the Northern District of Ohio is now prosecuting the case.
