Two probationary police officers have been lauded for their exceptional bravery after disarming a machete-wielding drug dealer. The incident occurred on March 12, 2025, at Templars Square shopping centre in Cowley. PCs Morgan Llewellyn and Owain Soady-Jackson encountered two suspicious individuals and, during an apprehension, one suspect produced a 16-inch machete.
The assailant attacked PC Soady-Jackson twice in the neck with the weapon, narrowly missing a fatal blow thanks to PC Llewellyn's intervention. PC Llewellyn punched the knife from the suspect's hand, sustaining a minor cut to his left hand, before managing to handcuff the individual. PC Soady-Jackson suffered a knee injury during the confrontation.
Both officers, described as new-in-service, acted on instinct and training to overcome the dangerous situation. Their courageous actions are now being recognized with Thames Valley Police Federation Bravery Awards, to be presented at a ceremony next week.
