A Merseyside Police officer has denied causing the death of Rachael Moore, a 22-year-old carer, through careless driving. The fatal collision occurred on Christmas Eve in 2022 on Sheil Road, Kensington, Liverpool, as Ms. Moore was walking home from her job.
PC Scott Thompson, 32, who was responding to an emergency call at the time of the incident, entered a plea of not guilty at Manchester Magistrates' Court. The charge follows an extensive three-year investigation conducted by the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
Thompson elected to have his trial heard by a jury at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court. He is scheduled to appear in court on January 8 and has been granted unconditional bail pending the proceedings.
