A disturbing case of suspected human sacrifice has emerged from Odisha's Balangir district, where a 40-year-old man allegedly beheaded a resident of a neighboring village. The accused, Shatrughan Sahu, reportedly buried the victim's head under his home's puja room, believing it would help him regain his estranged wife.
The headless body of 45-year-old Santosh Kharsel was discovered in a pond recently, leading to Sahu's arrest. Initially, Sahu claimed the killing resulted from an argument after drinking. However, he later confessed to the human sacrifice motive.
Police suspect Kharsel was invited to Sahu's house and attacked while asleep. The victim's head was exhumed from the puja room, confirming the sacrifice angle.
