An attempted firearm purchase facilitated through Instagram on Thursday afternoon led to an aggravated robbery in Odessa. A 17-year-old boy had arranged to meet Tarrington Turner, also 17, on Springbrook Drive to buy a Glock handgun.
Upon handing over $700, the victim was allegedly threatened at gunpoint by Turner and a 16-year-old accomplice. They then forced him out of the house.
Authorities were alerted, and Turner's father informed police that his son had returned home with a significant amount of cash, which he hid in his closet. The father also disclosed Turner's past involvement with stolen firearms.
Both Turner and the 16-year-old suspect were arrested on suspicion of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony. Turner was booked into the Ector County jail with bail set at $7,500, while the younger suspect is in juvenile detention.
