Norfolk police are investigating a shooting that occurred late on New Year's Eve at a home in the Ocean View neighborhood. Around 11:55 p.m. on December 31st, shots were fired at a residence on the 1800 block of East Ocean View Avenue. Responding officers discovered a 72-year-old woman with a gunshot wound that was not considered life-threatening.
The home with visible damage, including shot-out windows, is reportedly owned by Judy Boone, a well-known realtor and founder of Judy Boone Realty. Sentara Norfolk General Hospital confirmed a 72-year-old woman was admitted in fair condition. Boone, who grew up in Ocean View, founded her real estate company in 1988 and is credited with developing much of the area.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, with Norfolk's commonwealth's attorney assuring the public that there is no current threat and that the offense was not random. Police are appealing to the public for any information regarding the incident.
