In Jamaica, Queens, a tragic discovery was made on Monday, December 29th, when police officers responded to a report of an assault. Inside a residence on 157th Street, they found a 15-month-old boy unconscious and covered in blood. The child was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Jamaica Hospital.
Authorities also discovered a 28-year-old woman at the scene, identified as the boy's mother. She was suffering from slash wounds to her wrists and was admitted to the hospital in stable condition. Investigators noted that the baby did not exhibit any signs of stab wounds or blunt force trauma, suggesting the blood found on him may have originated from his mother.
The New York Chief Medical Examiner's office is conducting an autopsy to formally determine the cause of the infant's death. As of Monday evening, no arrests had been made in connection with this deeply concerning incident.
