A man in Farmingville, New York, is accused of a brutal murder-suicide attempt that resulted in his estranged wife's death and a teenager's injury. Marcos Leal, 57, allegedly fatally stabbed Adriana Barbosa, 46, after a heated argument on Thursday evening.
During the same incident, an unidentified teenager at the residence also sustained injuries. Police reported that Leal then turned the knife on himself.
First responders found Barbosa, Leal, and the teenager with stab wounds. Barbosa was pronounced deceased at a local hospital, while the teenager received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. Leal is currently hospitalized with serious injuries.
He faces charges including second-degree murder, criminal contempt, and child endangerment. The motive for the confrontation and the specifics of the criminal contempt charge remain under investigation.
