PS5 Message Sparks Kidnapping Rescue Claim
12 May
Summary
- Mother and two children were safely located after an alleged kidnapping.
- One son claims he acted on a PS5 message from a sibling to 'bring police'.
- Family members are accused of intending to take children to Yemen.

Four individuals have been apprehended in connection with the alleged kidnapping of a mother and her two young children in Perinton, New York. The victims, Mouna Omar Saleh Ali, 54, and her children, aged 7 and 9, were located unharmed later on Saturday, May 9, in Rochester. Authorities arrested Omar Saleh, 30, Gamil S. Ahmed, 31, and Dajour L. Paul, 26. A fifth individual, Amar Abdullah Qasim Saleh, 25, was taken into custody on Monday morning.
Prosecutors contend that the defendants planned to hide the children from other family members, Child Protective Services, and the Department of State, with the alleged intent of taking them to Yemen. However, defense counsel for Omar Saleh argued that the actions constituted a 'rescue.'
The defense stated that Omar Saleh had been seeking his siblings for over a week after receiving a PlayStation 5 message from the 9-year-old asking for assistance and police intervention. This attorney further claims that Omar had already filed missing persons reports and possessed guardianship paperwork signed by the children's mother.
Ahmed, Omar, and Paul face charges including second-degree kidnapping. Omar and Ahmed are under home monitoring with GPS devices, while Ahmed must surrender his passport. Paul is being held on bail due to concerns he may be a flight risk. All are scheduled to appear in Perinton Town Court on Friday.
