Nurse Struck Off for Patient Safety Risks
15 Apr
Summary
- Nurse failed to administer vaccines and medications correctly.
- Panel found her fitness to practice was impaired.
- She poses a risk to the public and is banned from practice.

A nurse practitioner, Mary Folake Olanrewaju, will be removed from the profession due to concerns over patient safety. The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) ruled her fitness to practise was impaired, citing a risk to the public if she continued working. Olanrewaju allegedly made several errors between August and October 2019 while working at Toddington Medical Centre.
Allegations include telling a patient an MMR vaccine was unnecessary for travel and administering Denosumab and Zoladex incorrectly. The panel also heard she gave a baby immunisation vaccines too early and took inadequate smear tests. She failed to provide required documentation to the NMC.
All allegations were found proven by the panel. They concluded that banning her was the only way to adequately protect the public. An existing suspension order is set to end on May 7, after which this new order will take effect.
