28 Nov, 2025
Summary
- Senior nurse groomed a vulnerable student into a sexual relationship.
- He threatened to destroy her career if she didn't comply.
- NMC removed him from the register for abusing his position.

Stewart Worton, a senior nurse, has been removed from the nursing register for grooming a student nurse he was mentoring into a sexual relationship. The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) found that Worton abused his position of trust and authority for his personal gratification.
He employed coercive tactics against the vulnerable student, including threatening to expose her past drug use to maintain silence. The victim stated Worton used this against her throughout their relationship, causing significant distress.
Worton worked for the Fife Health and Social Care Partnership, assisting patients with addictions. He was dismissed last March following these revelations and will no longer be able to practice as a nurse.
