Judge Denies Move for Duxbury Mom's Murder Trial

A judge has ruled that Lindsay Clancy, the Massachusetts nurse accused of murdering her three children, will stand trial in Plymouth County. Despite her attorney's plea to relocate the trial due to intense local publicity and concerns about jury impartiality, the request was denied. The trial's commencement has been rescheduled from February 9 to July 20, a decision made to avoid potential conflicts with defense counsel's vacation plans.

Clancy is accused of strangling her children, Cora, five, Dawson, three, and eight-month-old Callan, in their Duxbury home in January 2023. Her husband discovered the scene upon returning home, finding the children deceased and Clancy with self-inflicted wounds. The defense plans to argue an insanity defense, citing postpartum depression, but prosecutors have presented evidence suggesting Clancy researched methods of harm and that her suicide attempt may have been staged.

Clancy has pleaded not guilty to the charges, which include two counts of murder and multiple counts of strangulation. Her husband, Patrick Clancy, has stated his wife was not a monster but was suffering from a severe mental illness, mentioning she had reported hearing voices. She had recently been institutionalized but was released shortly before the tragic events.
