Kolkata Nurse's Body Found in Locked Restroom

A disturbing discovery was made at Kolkata's Nilratan Sircar Medical College and Hospital on Wednesday night when the body of 30-year-old nurse Rupali Burman was found inside a locked restroom. Staff became concerned after the nurse, who had started her shift at 8 PM, did not respond to calls from the restroom. Police were summoned and had to break down the door to access the facility.

The deceased nurse was employed in the hospital's gynaecology department. The Kolkata Police's DD Homicide Department has taken charge of the investigation. A forensic team is expected to examine the scene, and CCTV footage from the area, including outside the restroom, is being reviewed. Preliminary findings suggest the nurse entered the restroom at approximately 10:20 PM.

In parallel with the police inquiry, the state health department has also initiated its own investigation. An independent committee has been formed to look into the circumstances surrounding the nurse's death. This committee has been instructed to present its findings to the health department within a seven-day period, aiming to shed light on this unsettling event at the hospital.
