Summary
- Victims' families call NHS trust 'not safe' after critical report.
- Report found mental health services not providing dignified care.
- Public inquiry into the killings begins in February.

Families of individuals murdered in Nottingham have voiced grave concerns about the NHS trust responsible for treating the perpetrator, labeling it "not safe." They are calling for immediate special measures following a critical report released on Wednesday that detailed serious failings in the trust's mental health services. The perpetrator, diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, was treated by the trust between May 2020 and September 2022.
The Care Quality Commission's inspection highlighted that patients were not consistently offered humane, dignified, or high-quality care. The report, which followed 39 inspections and a leadership review, found breaches in management regulations and mandated significant improvements. Seven of the trust's 18 services, including five mental health services, were rated as requiring improvement.
