9 Nov
Summary
- ISIS recruiter Juhad Hameed Shakeel Manna and serial rapist Umesh Reddy seen using phones
- Reddy also captured watching TV in his cell
- Allegations of preferential treatment and security lapses at Parappana Agrahara Central Jail

In a major security breach, videos have recently surfaced showing notorious inmates using mobile phones and watching television inside Bengaluru's Parappana Agrahara Central Jail. Among those seen using phones are Juhad Hameed Shakeel Manna, a known recruiter for the terror group ISIS, and serial rapist and killer Umesh Reddy. Reddy was also captured on video watching TV in his cell.
The undated videos, which have triggered serious security concerns, have led the prison authorities to launch an internal inquiry to verify the authenticity of the footage and identify those responsible. The authorities have stated that further action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.
This is not the first time the Parappana Agrahara Central Jail, which houses several high-risk inmates, has faced scrutiny over security and oversight issues. In October, a video showing a notorious rowdy-sheeter celebrating his birthday behind bars had gone viral, raising questions about the lack of accountability within the prison system. Last year, a photograph also emerged showing a Kannada actor receiving VIP treatment inside the jail.
