- Inquest found insufficient evidence for his entry into water or suicidal intent.

The circumstances surrounding the death of 37-year-old Paul Yeomans remain unclear following an inquest at Norfolk Coroner's Court on March 13. Yeomans was found deceased in the river on Riverside Road in Norwich after entering the water on August 29 last year. Emergency services attempted resuscitation, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A witness recalled hearing loud music and splashing sounds consistent with someone struggling to swim near the riverbank. A bicycle and a bag of clothing, believed to belong to Yeomans, were discovered on the riverbank. His friends described him as a good person struggling with personal demons.
The inquest heard about Yeomans' history of heavy drinking and drug use, with toxicology revealing 144mg of ethanol in his blood, potentially affecting cognitive function. He had sought help from a health and social care charity for addiction. Ultimately, the assistant coroner concluded there was insufficient evidence to explain his entry into the water or suggest suicidal intent, extending condolences to his loved ones.
