In Norfolk, Virginia, Kendria Powell, 35, was sentenced on March 24, 2026, to one year in prison. This follows her guilty plea to felony eluding law enforcement and misdemeanor driving without a license, stemming from an incident in December 2025. Powell had attempted to evade a Norfolk Police patrol officer who spotted her vehicle, which was under investigation for a Chesapeake crime.
During the pursuit, Powell drove at speeds up to 70 mph on the wrong side of the road, disregarded nine red lights and stop signs, and eventually parked at a residence on Tait Terrace. Her license was invalid at the time. Judge Jamila D. LeCruise accepted the plea agreement, which also includes two years of suspended sentence and five years of good behavior. The Commonwealth dropped other charges in exchange for the plea.
