Vandalism Spree Smashes 80+ Car Windows in NJ

More than 80 vehicles suffered damage in a widespread vandalism spree that affected Middlesex and Union counties. The incidents, which took place between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Monday, involved suspects smashing car windows with bricks or pavers. Surveillance footage captured a man in a dark grey Nissan Rogue discarding heavy stone pavers onto random cars.

Residents in Rahway, including those at a 55-plus community, were among the victims. Anita Kornagay expressed distress over the unexpected cost of replacing her shattered windshield, questioning why a senior living community would be targeted. Her neighbor echoed these sentiments, condemning the senseless act that forces people to spend money they may not have.

Law enforcement agencies from multiple towns, including Woodbridge, Edison, and Hillside, are actively collaborating to identify and apprehend the suspect. Linden police are investigating over two dozen damaged vehicles, while Cranford is looking into eight instances of vandalism. Cranford Police Chief Matthew Nazzaro described the acts as violent property destruction, emphasizing the importance of neighborhood security and peace.
