NJ Morgue Worker Fired Over Gaudreau Leak
22 Mar
Summary
- Morgue worker fired for leaking sensitive info about Gaudreau brothers.
- He lost his appeal to have the termination decision overturned.
- The leak included birth dates and crash details on social media.

A former New Jersey morgue assistant's termination for leaking sensitive information regarding the deaths of former NHL player Johnny Gaudreau and his brother has been upheld. Connor McGlynn was fired in September 2024 after admitting to sharing details about the fatal incident, which included birth dates and home addresses, with friends.
The leaked information quickly appeared on social media platforms, causing distress. McGlynn challenged his dismissal, but a New Jersey Commission voted 3-2 to uphold the termination on February 25, 2026. Administrative Law Judge Allison Friedman noted McGlynn acted out of emotion but did not fail in his duties or post the information himself.
The ruling came as developments occurred in the case of Sean Higgins, the driver accused of causing the crash. Higgins's defense team is seeking dismissal of charges, claiming toxicology data indicates he was below the legal alcohol limit. This claim challenges previous findings that showed a blood alcohol content of .087.
Higgins is expected back in court on April 14, 2026, where prosecutors will present their findings on the new BAC claims. The Gaudreau family has experienced further additions, with both Johnny's and Matthew's wives giving birth to sons in late 2024 and early 2025, respectively.
