5 May
Summary
- Killer of Nicki Minaj's father reached a settlement.
- Lawsuit sought damages for loss of companionship.
- Killer attempted to depose Nicki Minaj about lyrics.

Charles Polevich, the individual responsible for the fatal 2021 vehicle collision that killed Nicki Minaj's father, Robert Maraj, has reached a settlement in the wrongful-death lawsuit. The agreement was finalized in early March between Polevich and Carol Maraj, the rapper's mother, concluding their legal dispute. Carol Maraj had initiated the lawsuit seeking compensation for the loss of her husband's companionship.
This resolution occurred after Polevich made efforts to depose Nicki Minaj. He aimed to question her about song lyrics related to her childhood, reportedly to argue that Carol Maraj's marriage was not a happy one, potentially reducing his liability for damages. The deposition never took place, and the case has now been settled.
Robert Maraj was tragically killed in February 2021 while crossing a street in Long Island, New York. Polevich, who fled the scene, was later identified and apprehended using security footage. He pleaded guilty to charges including leaving the scene of an accident and tampering with evidence, ultimately serving a one-year jail sentence.
