Summary
- An infant boy was found unattended at a private hospital.
- The child was born to a 15-year-old victim of rape.
- An inquiry is underway into how the baby left the civil hospital.

Health department officials are investigating an incident where an infant boy was found unattended at a private hospital near Basai Chowk. The newborn, whose mother is a 15-year-old rape victim, was discovered without any admission documents, raising concerns of a potential trafficking attempt. The Gurugram Child Welfare Committee (CWC) has requested a detailed report from the civil hospital regarding the baby's transfer.
The infant was born at the civil hospital on December 16 to a minor who was a victim of repeated rape. While the victim was discharged with her parents, the baby was initially kept at the civil hospital for care and adoption processing. However, the father later took custody of the infant, only for the child to be found later at the private facility under suspicious circumstances. The CWC suspects foul play may have been involved in the infant's transfer.
Officials clarified that parents remain legal guardians until a formal surrender deed is executed, allowing them to discharge the child. The infant is currently receiving treatment for jaundice at the civil hospital. Authorities are investigating the roles of several Asha workers and other staff involved, and further action will be taken if a broader racket is uncovered.
