A special CBI court in Patna has commenced the trial for the NEET-UG 2024 paper leak case, approximately two-and-a-half years after the examination. On Thursday, charges were officially framed against 52 individuals implicated in the scandal. The court has scheduled the presentation of witnesses and documentary evidence to begin on October 1.
The investigation into the alleged paper leak started on May 5, 2024, after Patna police intercepted a car. This led to the discovery of a network suspected of supplying question papers to candidates. The probe later traced the leak to the Oasis School examination center in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand.
Among the accused facing trial are Oasis School principal Dr. Ehsanul Haque, vice-principal Imtiyaz Alam, and Sikandar Yadavendu. The CBI initially filed a chargesheet against 54 individuals, but proceedings against two have been separated, and one suspect was not charged due to insufficient evidence.
