Summary
- Woman charged with murder and attempted murder of her two children.
- Children found unresponsive; one died, the other survived.
- Suspect arrested on February 13 and denied bail.

Andrea Morgan Faust, 41, of Durham, North Carolina, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. The charges stem from an incident on the evening of February 12, when Durham police found her two young children unresponsive in the Grove Park neighborhood.
One child, believed to be between 3 and 4 years old, died after going into cardiac arrest. The second child, approximately 2 years old, was found with a faint pulse and is expected to recover fully, according to Faust's husband, Eric.
Faust was arrested on February 13 and subsequently denied bail on February 17. Court records indicate prosecutors sought a suicide watch for Faust, who reportedly made a suicide attempt. Her husband described the events as a severe mental health crisis and vouched for her as a mother.
Faust's public defender successfully motioned for her transfer to the Safekeeping Unit at North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women in Raleigh on Wednesday, February 18. The motive behind the alleged harm to the children remains unclear, as police have not released further details.
