A 17-year-old boy, Isaac Tracy, faces a first-degree murder charge in the stabbing death of his mother, Katharine Svaldi, 49. The tragic incident occurred at their Fayetteville residence on the evening of Tuesday, February 10. Responding officers discovered Svaldi's body partially concealed within a recycling bin in the garage.
During a 911 call on February 10, Tracy reportedly confessed to killing his mother and stated her body was in the garage bin. Another 911 call came from a person identifying as Tracy's grandparent, corroborating the grandson's confession. Tracy, who sustained self-inflicted injuries, was taken into custody at the scene.
Investigators located a note inside the home that may provide insight into a motive, though specific details remain undisclosed to protect the ongoing judicial review. Tracy, a student at Jack Britt High School and member of the wrestling team, is being held without bond and will appear in court on March 3 for a disposition hearing.
