Kendal Lee Hayes and Glenn John Delgreco II were charged with felony first-degree murder on September 15, 2026, after an investigation into their child's death on May 13, 2026.
Authorities determined the 3-month-old girl had suffered severe malnutrition and dehydration, losing approximately one-third of her body weight since birth. An autopsy confirmed the cause of death as severe protein-calorie malnutrition due to caregiver neglect, leading officials to rule the death a homicide.
Indictments allege that Hayes and Delgreco demonstrated a disregard for their daughter's life starting just six days after her birth on February 10, 2026. They are accused of failing to provide necessary sustenance and medical care, despite the infant showing significant distress. The couple was initially charged with felony child abuse in June.
In addition to the parents, the infant's grandparents, Alice Loraine Evans and Thomas Virgil Evans, are also facing felony child abuse charges. All four individuals resided together and shared responsibility for the infant's care. Hayes and Delgreco were served indictments on September 15, 2026, and were denied bond.
