Officers responding to a report of gunfire discovered four individuals with gunshot wounds inside a residence. Two victims, identified as Victoria "Heather" Moore, 50, and Megan "Josiah" Bumgardner, 38, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other residents, Camryn Moore, 26, and Cory Armstrong, 29, were identified as suspects and subsequently charged with two counts each of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. They were believed to have fled Gaston County immediately after the shooting.
Authorities tracked the pair across multiple states, with the search culminating Friday morning in Ohio. After a vehicle pursuit initiated by law enforcement attempting to pull them over, the suspects' vehicle swerved to avoid deployed spike strips, leading to a crash. Gunshots were heard from the wreckage, and subsequent investigation revealed both Moore and Armstrong deceased within the vehicle. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the pursuit and the manner of their deaths.
