A Nashville banker, Karl Stephen Richardson, has been arrested and charged with nearly a dozen felony offenses. The charges stem from allegations that Richardson exploited two elderly women, withdrawing thousands from their bank accounts. He faced charges including financial exploitation, computer fraud, theft, identity theft, and credit card fraud.
Richardson allegedly began defrauding an 86-year-old woman as early as April 2022, while he was employed at a Bank of America branch. Police report over 100 unauthorized transactions, including ATM withdrawals and Zelle transfers, totaling approximately $70,932. These activities continued even after he left Bank of America for Simmons Bank in November.
He is also accused of targeting a 75-year-old woman, from whom he allegedly stole more than $68,000. This involved 19 counter and 11 ATM withdrawals over a four-month period. Richardson was arrested on June 23, 2026, while at work, with his bond set at $370,000.
