An urgent search for 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, has tragically transitioned into a crime scene investigation. Nancy was reported missing on the morning of February 1, after a church friend noticed her absence from services. She was last seen at her residence near East Skyline Drive and North Campbell Avenue on the evening of January 31.
Upon checking her home in Catalina Foothills, north of Tucson, Arizona, and conducting an initial search, concerned individuals contacted 911. The Pima County Sheriff's Department arrived to find a "concerning" scene, leading to the involvement of homicide detectives and a large-scale search-and-rescue operation.
Sheriff Chris Nanos stated on February 2 that Nancy's home is now being treated as a crime scene. He emphasized that Nancy, who suffers from physical ailments and requires medication, has no cognitive issues and is very alert. The sheriff made a public plea for anyone with information to come forward, hoping for her safe return but acknowledging the disturbing evidence found at the residence.
